Recent events c:

Alright, I've gotten lazy with this (sort of).

Okay, yeah. I have. There's no excuse. I'm a terrible awful bloggy person.

So, what's happened here lately?

Well, a couple weeks ago, the charger on my laptop crapped out, and for about a week I bummed the roommate's charger when she wasn't around while I was trying to see if I could get a free replacement since the old one was still under warranty.

The answer was I probably could.... if I was shipping it to the US. That seller doesn't do international shipments, it turns out! So I got to fight my way through Amazon.co.jp with the help of Google Chrome, and now I have a new laptop charger that works! Hopefully it lasts longer /knocks on desk/.

Classes have been going alright. For one class we had to get a weekly/monthly manga and analyze the cover. I got this ridiculous BRICK of a thing that just oozes girly shoujo everywhere, man. I wrote up a rough thing for it, but I mean. What the hell else can I say. It's the April edition, so it has pink on top of pink on top of sparkle pink and sakura blossoms. Seriously. The damn thing is pink.

It turns out when you can't actually read the shoujo manga, it all just turns into an endless sea of eyes and sparkles and people blushing at each other with romantic expressions.

On the topic of pictures, I have such a backlog now. I really need to tackle the things agghhh. I have to resize them all before I can post though, and it's such a pain. I have them all sorted by place so far though, so hopefully I can get a mess of them up!

I went to Fushimi Inari again yesterday/Sunday, and actually walked to the top this time. Today, my calves yelled at me anytime I walked up a set of stairs. But I took lots of pictures, and saw a mess of interesting things, so it was awesome c:

As for later last night, I was thinking I'd buy myself a concert ticket to go see Versailles, since they're the band that kind of inspired me to actually study Japanese. As silly as that is to admit. They're performing April 2nd, and a friend of mine is going, but I'm completely baffled by the ticket buying system! Hopefully she can help me out ;A; If I can't go though, I decided I'll just go buy an equal (monetary) amount of booze. Aghhhh I really hope I can go! I had their autographs before, from when they had their original group/before Jasmine died, but I think my CDs were stolen or got mixed up and are in Jaime's apartment or something. When we cleared out the storage unit... the box that had my CDs was nowhere to be found ;~;

That was a while back though. In more recent events, I ordered Phase 10 off of amazon to play with some people here, and a good book to read in my spare time!

Next weekend, I'm planning on visiting Osaka, since I've not gone there yet!

Mochi mochi mochi

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

My speaking partner brought me fresh mochi today as a present (since it was the first time we were meeting):

I have no idea what the green one is, but it's probably green tea flavored! The pink one (which is half eaten lol) has delicious anko inside mmmm.

It goes on. This week has been pretty school filled.

Saturday I'm going to Sweets Paradise in Kyoto with a ton of people from the seminar house! I'm kind of sad because in Kyoto on the same day is the Hoshi-Matsuri, which would be really amazing to go to.

I will just make a huge picture dump post soon. The internet here is a bit haywire and bitchy, so I don't really want to go and make a beautiful post with lovely descriptions everywhere, only to have the internet decide to malfunction and eat it, you see.

Let's see though. Things have been going pretty decently the last few days! I went to Kyoto on Friday, and we went to the Fushimi Inari Shrine with seven Japanese students, whose job it was to guide us around the train system and make sure we didn't get horribly lost basically! They were all really nice though, so it was a great day. I did in fact take a mess of pictures there, and one video! I think. I need to get all of them onto my computer already. I also took some time on Thursday to take some shots around campus, so those will be coming up sometime, too!

Yesterday we got takoyaki at a stand next to the grocery store; quite literally, the restaurant seated four people. He made the takoyaki right in front of us, and it was really intriguing and fabulous! I've basically eaten a lot of things with 'yaki' in the name this week, since we didn't have full access to the kitchen and such. But tomorrow, I think I might splurge and buy meat, a zucchini and just. Saute them in a pan. It sounds so good right now, you don't even know. On that note, the cuts of meat here are really different from in America; almost everything is sliced really thin for like, yakisoba. I don't think I saw a single pork chop while I was in the store, for example. I mean. I'm used to seeing these hunks of animal in the Walmart meat section! So it's a bit weird. I mean hell, the salmon is even cut differently! But it still looks delicious omigawd.

I feel like such a dick lately. The bills in Japan (money wise) are so different in value from US bills, and if you're changing a large amount of cash at the bank, of course they'll give you the biggest bills! I just feel bad buying something for ~270 yen and paying with a 10000 yen note ahahaha.

In other news, I start classes tomorrow! They're all weirdly scheduled, but I don't have anything until 11am, and then I'll be done by 3 on Mondays. However, I'm going to try getting my level of written Japanese bumped up this week, so I'll probably have a 9 am class after that bluhhhh.

Anyway, I really need to get on that picture post before the picture folder becomes an untouchable behemoth. Should really do that tomorrow. Hmmmm.
