KAY SO

Kay, so I've had this other post sitting in the other tab for what feels like ages now, but it can't have been that long.

Either way, today was spent walking back and forth to campus (heading there once, coming back to grab a laptop, heading back again, and then coming back to the dorm (and grabbing some slippers on the way)), turning in papers, and generally being really productive! I still need to get the copy of my insurance so I can finish that obnoxious little thing, but hopefully I'll have that soon. Otherwise, all I have to do is pay some (admittedly hefty) fees, and then I'm done with paperwork!

Got my laptop hooked up to wireless today, and can now chill on the futon instead of at the desk. I swear this desk area has no heat! This window is evil. I took a picture out the window yesterday, but I don't feel like inserting said picture now ahahahaaaaa. Either way, this window. It eats heat. The floor over here does, too.

I have my placement test tomorrow, but I really can't make myself think about it. I'm more excited that the cafeteria has curry rice for 270 yen (per medium bowl, which is really more than satisfactory of a portion!). God, it seems like the most exciting things so far have been food!

I got this just AMAZING apple juice for really cheap yesterday, along with a couple mystery flavors/new flavors of cup o' noodle and curry udon ramen (?!!), and today I snagged an onigiri with my curry rice and later found "chocolate chip melon bread" which has easily risen to my list of deep, dark loves. Seriously, that thing was huge and delicious. I like to think the 2 hours of walking today equalled it out though. I had that evil bread and the onigiri I got at lunch time for dinner, and tomorrow I'm looking forward to trying something else in the cafeteria! Everything there is really cheap and looks really good, so I'm pretty thrilled with this.

Let's see. Aside from food. I can't wait to actually start classes. It's weird thinking I have another week before they actually start! I really want to speak more Japanese now, but I'm afraid I'll talk to someone and they'll just use so many words I don't know /sob/. Vocabulary is my nemesis right now.

My roommate and I get along pretty well, too. We both have confessed that we'll likely end up just piling all our books on the table, we both like video games, and just generally, get along nicely! It's pretty nifty.

Also, I really like the 500 yen coins. I want a million of them because they're just gorgeous. It's really weird being able to legitimately pay for things in coins though! Like. I went to the little 100 yen section of the store down the road, and it felt so weird handing the cashier a single coin for two objects (a mini set of a plastic fork, spoon & chopsticks, and a stupidly cute cup with (green?) cats on it)? I don't know if that's just me being silly or what. Also the 1 yen coins. I keep feeling like they're fake. They're so light!

Anyway. I swear I'll update with pictures some time! I have a few, but not so many from today/yesterday. I'll get there! There's a tour we can take to Kyoto later this week, so hopefully I can finagle myself into that.

All I want to do is have the energy and time to review my Japanese books.

6 Days to Go

6 days before I depart for Kansai, I start my (hopeful) project.

It's my aim to post something every day, but I'm going to admit now that that probably won't happen. So I'll just try making up random crap.

As for right now?

I'm freaking out. Long air plane rides, going through customs for the first time, going to a country with a vastly different language? Yeah. Freaking out a wee bit.
